If you suffer from debilitating headaches and haven’t been able to find a cause or a cure, then come see us at The Centre for Dentistry in Haddon Heights. While there are many reasons for migraines, one of the most common sources for headaches is often overlooked: masticatory muscle myospasm. In layman's words, there are cramps in the muscles that open and close the jaws, usually caused by an uneven bite and which often cause chipped and worn front teeth. We can promise that our NTI appliance will make your headaches go away--or you'll get your money back! Click here to read what our patients have recently written about our headache treatment.
What does that mean, exactly? Masticatory muscle myospasms occur when the jaw muscles cannot achieve a comfortable resting position. Interference in the bite can cause clenching, also known as bruxing. Bruxism is a common condition that occurs during nightly rest when patients grind or clench their teeth. If you do this, you probably wake up with headaches and you might notice that your teeth are getting worn and possibly cracked. At our Haddon Heights office we offer headache treatments that may negate your need for medication.
Dr. Curtis Westersund from Calgary, who is a good friend and colleague of Dr. Markus's, put together an excellent, short video about temporomandibular joint disorders. Click here to view it! Our approaches are somewhat similiar, although there are a few differences. Dr. Markus and his team will be happy to discuss your TMD and our treatment approach at your appointment.
At The Centre for Dentistry, we treat headache-causing issues, often known as temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, with the NTI appliance. NTI is the acronym for Nociceptive Trigeminal Inhibition, which is a complicated way of saying this device relieves the pressure on your jaw muscles, corrects your bite, and alleviates your migraines. You can find out more about the NTI appliance by visiting the NTI website. Or if you have questions about how The Centre for Dentistry can create a headache treatment for you, give us a call!
