In layman's words, there are cramps in the muscles that open and close the jaws, usually caused by an uneven bite and which often cause chipped and worn front teeth. What does that mean, exactly? Masticatory muscle myospasms occur when the jaw muscles cannot achieve a comfortable resting position. Interference in the bite can cause clenching, also known as bruxing. Bruxism is a common condition that occurs during nightly rest when patients grind or clench their teeth. If you do this, you probably wake up with headaches and you might notice that your teeth are getting worn and possibly cracked. At our Haddon Heights office we offer headache treatments that may negate your need for medication.
