Spring 2001 E-newsletter Our Continuing Quest for Knowledge New Equipment and Technology As all of you may know we here at the Centre for Dentistry are continually striving to improve our delivery of services. As a result several new technologies and equipment have been added. With the introduction of sleep dentistry at the center we have added a new Omni-Trak noninvasive vital signs monitoring system for your safety. This unit constantly monitors your blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen saturation so that your visits maybe as worry free as taking a nap. We have also implemented the use of Articaine, a local anesthesia, whose smaller molecular size is more readily passed through the hard bone of the jaw. In the past we have had to get the entire side of your jaw numb to work on just one tooth. This is not the case with Articaine. It is now possible for us to get just the tooth that we are working on numb. After the cosmetically artistic dentists has made your smile just the way you want it ask them to take a picture for you using our new Olympus C-3000 3.3 megapixel digital camera. This state of the art digital camera allows us unsurpassed detail and flexibility in the realm of dental imaging. We have added a new, Bien-Aire electric motor dental handpiece. This latest technology provides our doctors with the ability to work faster, smoother and quieter. As always, we stay ahead of the learning curve with dental materials, obtaining many of the advances in dental science long before most general dentists have ever heard of them.
