July 2000 Edition: Our Twenty Fourth Year
It has been an interesting semester at "The Centre". We would
like to thank everyone who helped out in the Smiles for Life Campaign.
Our office raised over $40,000 for the Garth Brooks Touch'em All Foundation
and St. Jude. It enabled us to be the #4 office in the country!
I traveled to Denver to help deliver a $3 Million check to Garth himself.
Look for pictures of us at Coors Field, the next time you're at the
office. I also owe my staff a great big HUG for all their hard
work behind the scenes, especially Janet DeWitt, who did most of
the
co-ordination.
Last weekend Dr. Phillips and I completed training with DOCS -
The Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation. I have now
been accredited to offer an even more comfortable means to treat
patients. If you, or anyone you know is deathly afraid of
going to the dentist, Dr. Phillips and myself will be able to give
them a little pill, similar to Valium, which will allow them to
nap through dental visits. They will feel nothing, remember
nothing, but be totally responsive if we need them to be.
This type of treatment will raise our practice to another level
of performance. We have already helped hundreds with their
fears. Sedation Dentistry will allow us to treat a previously
ignored segment of society, the truly fearful. We pledge to
do so non-judgementally. . . .we cannot condemn anyone for their
fears. For those who are interested in learning more, call
one of our receptionists, and tell them you want to learn more about
it, or check out the Comfortable Treatment page of the website. One of our patients, Russ Kolins, who is a private detective, has
helped compile a page of links for the website that will allow you
to find an enormous amount of information. If you have any
favorite pages, especially local pages, that you would like to share
with us, I will be happy to post them to the website. Simply
e-mail them to me in the following format:
Department Stores
Macy's http://www.macy's.com
Home Depot http://www.homedepot.com
****Now is the time to write your Congressmen and Senators to let
them know that you want to see them put a stop to the abuses of
managed care insurance companies. You want to see them pass
a Patients' Bill of Rights that has some teeth in it! Remind
them that this is an election year, and your vote hinges on them
doing the right thing, and not what the insurance lobby wants them
to do. To e-mail them, go to: http://congress.org/elecmail.html Be sure
to include your home address, because they don't bother looking
at anything they can't verify is from someone in their district. Remember that during July and August there are no office hours
on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. So, if you feel a twinge,
don't wait, call us at the beginning of the week. One of us
is always on beeper during the weekend.
This will be the last newsletter that we actually print.
All future newsletters will be distributed on the web by e-mail.
So, please make sure that Dr. Markus has your email address. You
can email it to him at drmarkus@cent4dent.com. If there is
anyone you know who would like to receive the electronic version
of our regular emails, have them let us know.
Thanks,
Steve Markus
