Doctors:
Does United Concordia Make You See RED?
May 3, 2000
United Concordia
P.O. Box 898256
Camp Hill, PA 17089
To Whom it May Concern:
Per your letter of April 28, 2000, I believe that you are the one who
needs to contact Dr. P. to verify what constitutes an emergency. When
a patient is not in pain but rather in our office for a routine examination
and recurrent decay is determined, that is not an emergency. I
further suggest that given United Concorida's track record that had I
performed the treatment, it would only give you another reason to reject
a claim.
Given the multitude of phone calls that occurred on April 27, 2000,
caused by United Concordia's failure to adhere to their end, and the
inability to admit to the patient that they are the one delaying
and denying treatment, we are terminating our participation status.
United Concordia's nefarious policies have caused us, after 25 years,
to sever all ties. We have never experienced anything even remotely close
to this level of insurance absurdity. We will continue to deliver
first class service to our patients without United Concordia's interference.
Sincerely,
Stephen J. Markus, D.M.D.
