Our Education Never Stops
Continuing Education - Dr. Markus and his assistant, Rich Ploski,
recently attended a Peter Dawson Symposium on Occlusion in Clearwater,
Florida. Dr. Markus has already begun implementing the theories
into diagnosis and treatment. He will be continuing his education
by completing seven more symposiums in the next few years.
Dr. Markus has also presented a course in Orlando on the prevention
of mercury contamination in the environment. He will be featured
on WPVI-Channel 6 for his dedication to this cause. Dr. Markus is
one of only a few dentists in the Northeast that has the equipment
to remove mercury from the fluids leaving the office via the plumbing,
before it enters the public waste system. Although we no longer
place mercury fillings in this office, many are removed here and
replaced with composite resin fillings or crowns and onlays.
Dr. Mark Scott has been attending a mini-residency program in Implantology
once a month for the past several months.
The team has also has a continuing education course in Arestin,
a new chemotherapeutic agent that has proven valuable in the treatment
of periodontal disease. Arestin is actually placed into the periodontal
pocket, where it kill the bacteria responsible for the infection,
allowing for optimal healing and pocket reduction.
