Thank
you Dr. Markus
January, 2003
Here is another thank you testimonial to Dr. Markus and the team at the Centre For Dentistry. New Jersey dentists Dr. Markus, Dr. Phillips and Dr. Scott look forward to helping you with your dental needs as they have helped past customers such as Ray. Here is Ray’s story:
Dr. Markus, You have no idea how hard it
is to write this, but I need to do this to get the ball rolling...
first, THANKS SO MUCH already for your website and the relief that
I feel, that there is a place that could accommodate me (and my
fears!) about dental procedures... you said all the right things
that made me get the nerve to even CONSIDER getting off my butt
and getting my teeth fixed! My story: I haven't been to a dentist
in years... many years.
I am very apprehensive about any dental procedure, mainly because
I know I need a lot (I have fillings in almost every tooth, some
in the front of my teeth, and have a tooth (or what's left of
it) that needs to be removed). But, also, as a child, I "lived" at
the dentist and have developed quite a phobia over these many
years. I am finally to the point that I am more sick of seeing
bad teeth and not being able to smile and laugh confidently (ever!)
than I am afraid of going to the dentist... hell of a crossroads,
huh?!
I
am 42 years old and in need of major work. I want sooooooo desperately
to have a great smile... but my fear has kept me away. Unfortunately,
as a child, my parents never introduced me to a toothbrush until
it was too late. I have AWEFUL memories of being dragged (literally)
into the dentist, having procedures done that hurt TREMENDOUSLY
(needles being jabbed in and swished around, taking out part
of my jaw with Novocain almost non-existent, .... ugh!!!!!!!
) I could go on, but you get my point.
I am embarrassed by my dental condition and even MORE embarrassed
by my fear, which has kept me in a dark place for many, many
years! I can't stand it any longer. Well, I feel better just
writing this knowing that you understand and can help. Can I
make an appointment for a consultation? Although I live in Ocean
County, my daughter lives in Audubon (moved there about 2 years
ago with her mother) just down the road from your office and
I pick her up every weekend! (a coincidence???)
Every weekend I pass by your office and say to myself, "Please
Lord, give me the courage to get in there! Well, that's my story
in a nutshell. Thanks for "being there" and for a wonderful website
that gave me the courage to write this and get things moving
here... God Bless you and your staff!

Ray, I look forward to meeting you. Would
you email me your phone number so that I might contact you on Monday
to "get the ball rolling." Be sure to tell me where I can reach
you between the hours of 11A and 7P.
I promise you, once you have seen first hand the attention to
every detail, and comfort we can provide, you would drive to
our office even if it were in 500 miles away!
Dr. Markus |
Dr. Markus, Sorry for not responding sooner
as I was out of the office since last Friday. Thank you very much
for the encouraging emails! I am so surprised by the personal concern
you share and very comforted by it. You can reach me at work at
732-323-1011 from 8:30am to 5:00pm. And you can certainly show
my email to your colleagues. Although I am very apprehensive about
all of this, I am somewhat excited and relieved, thanks to YOUR
personal care and concern already. Thanks again. I will call Betsy
today. Ray

Dr. Markus,
Thanks for your concern and for accommodating me. I really appreciate
it. Because of your sensitivity toward me, I am feeling surprisingly
confident... still apprehensive, but I don't think I will faint
when I walk through the door! ;) I think I will be okay for the
exam without sedation. Looking forward to meeting you.
Sincerely,
Ray |
I trust everything went well, and you are
comfortable with the game plan for the next visit. If there is
anything else I can do for you, PLEASE let me know. You should
have that smile you desired by X-mas! The fact that you have been
so diligent with your oral hygiene certainly makes your treatment
much simpler. KUDOS
Steve Markus |
Dr. Markus, I really want
to thank you for a comfortable and informative visit. The time
you took with me was noticed and appreciated. Although I am very
apprehensive still with everything, you and your staff made me
feel confident and in good hands. I still cannot believe it will
only take 2 or 3 sessions to fix everything! That is a relief in
itself (I was thinking it would take at least 15 visits!) It will
be nice to be able to smile without embarrassment! You are definitely
doing God's work... See you next week.
Ray |
Dr. Markus,
I am doing well and have been pretty calm so far and haven't
lost too much sleep... tonight may be different! I am glad that
I am doing this and feel that I'm in good hands. The most comforting
thing has been your understanding of my fears and accommodating
me... and knowing that you care about my concerns. Thanks for
your help and I'm confident that you'll be doing a good job tomorrow.
I do have a question about the sedation. Are the pills you gave
me the ones that will make me sleep or just to keep me calm until
I get there? Will you be giving me more medication when I arrive?
Also, when do we sit down and talk about the actual veneers and
crowns (as far as texture, opaqueness, etc) for the final installation?
You showed me briefly some of the examples, but I'm not sure
we nailed any down. See you tomorrow!
Ray |
Well, you've come a long way baby! How do you like your new smile? How does the bite feel? How much do you remember? How was the trip home? What time did you sleep until? Are you in any discomfort?
Do you remember at one point, after I asked you how you were
doing, you said, "When can we do this again?" and I asked you
whether you'd like to become a surrogate patient?
What I really would like is for you to become an "ambassador" for
our sedation dentistry. We'll talk more later today once I get
to the office.
Steve Markus |
Dr. Markus,
Well, I'm back at work and feeling really good! The work you
have done so far is fantastic and although the temporary crowns
are not the real thing, they are pretty close, and I am able
to smile without embarrassment!!! It's a great feeling! Tell
Rich he did a great job on the temps! I think the teeth look "large" perhaps
because they are not porcelain with the opaque edges and the
pearly white texture, and because of the contrast against my
lower teeth. The "bite" is really good with no noticeable difference
from what was before. Just a great job!
I remember a little bit from the procedure.... it seems like
I was only in the chair for a half hour or so! I remember thinking
how good it was to finally get things fixed in my mouth while
the drilling was going on. And, I remember making that comment
about "let's do it again" and being a surrogate for someone else!
Ha! (Kidding, of course!) The effect of the sedation pills and
the Nitrous Oxide was great, and I barely felt anything during
the whole procedure. Whatever you did, let's do it again for
the next procedure!
The anticipation for the visit was the worst part! Even the
extraction wasn't that bad... but I did get a little worried
as I remember you struggling to get the tooth out and making
a comment about how much of a "workout" it was... I'm just glad
it was extracted before the decay went too far into the bone!
After 2 days, I am fine with just a little discomfort around
the extraction area and a little on the front 6 teeth that were
shaved down.
Well, thanks again and again for the great job you and your
staff did! I'll see you next week.
Ray |
Dear Dr. Markus
... looking forward to getting my "real" teeth tomorrow! I like
what you did with the sedation last time so lets do it again!
If I remember correctly, we will be doing the 6 veneers/crowns
on top and a couple filling replacements on the lower jaw (don't
forget the little one in the front on my lower teeth... it's
tiny, but it looks yellow and makes it look like I have a cavity
there. Thanks, doc, and I'll see you tomorrow morning! I cannot
tell you how pleased I am with the work you have done, and how
you accomplished it in such a comfortable way for me. 3 months
ago my dental health was in question and my outlook bleak....
now, I'm confident and I'm not afraid to smile (even with the
temps which look great) and look people in the eye! Thanks again.
Ray |
Dear Dr. Markus AND Staff,
I can't thank you enough for the excellent job you did!!! I
am amazed at how real my new crowns and veneers look! It's like
having brand new teeth... they don't feel any different than
real ones, either. I thought they might be more sensitive, like
the temps were, but they are not.
The sedation process was fantastic! I cannot believe how "quick" and
painless it was. It seemed like I was only in the chair for a
half hour yesterday. I hope the Dental Board lets you continue
your innovative sedation process because, for patients like myself,
it is a god-send. In fact, it was just the thing that gave me
the courage to make an appointment and get the work done. I'm
sure there are many "patients in waiting" out there who, perhaps,
have the same fears and childhood memories that I have had. Your
understanding, care and concern for me and my comfort during
this whole process has totally eliminated my fears and has replaced
those baaaaaad memories as a child!
Everyone in my office is very impressed with your work. I already gave
one of your promo cards out (to my boss).
Take care and thanks again! I'll see you next week.
Ray |
Dear Dr. Markus
Just wanted to touch base with you before too much time passes.... I cannot believe it is April already! Although the weather lately makes me think otherwise.
Anyway, I have had NO PROBLEMS with the fine job that you did! It took me months to finally get over the ingrained reaction of not showing my teeth when I smile.... but now I smile extra hard to make up for lost smiles! ;) I want to thank you and your staff again for the excellent care and concern for my condition, and for the perfect remedy. It is a joy knowing that my teeth are healthy and that I have a great dentist to turn to if there ever is a problem in the future! I am actually looking forward to my May cleaning and seeing everyone again. God Bless and much success... see you in May!
Sincerely,
Ray |
